I want to change my legal name, what documents do I need?

If your legal name has changed, you must let us know so we can update the name we have on file for you.

If your legal name has changed, you must let us know so we can update the name we have on file for you.

If you would like to change your legal name in our system, you will need to provide at least one of the following documents:

  • A change of name certificate issued by an Australian State or Territory births, deaths, and marriage registry.

  • A marriage certificate issued by an Australian State or Territory births, deaths, and marriage registry.

  • A revised birth certificate issued by an Australian State or Territory births, deaths, and marriage registry.

  • A decree nisi, decree absolute or other divorce order issued by an Australian Commonwealth Court, or a court of law based in a foreign jurisdiction.

You will also need to provide at least two of the following documents (these documents can be in your previous or current legal name):

  • A copy of an Australian Driver's Licence

  • A copy of an Australian passport issued by the Commonwealth of Australia, which has not been expired for two years or more.

  • A copy of a utility bill issued to you by a local government body or utilities provider such as a gas, electricity, water, within the preceding three months that contains your name and residential address.

You can also change your legal name on app.unloan.com.au:

  1. Locate and select ‘Settings

  2. Select ‘Personal Details

  3. From here, select 'Legal Name'

What's next?

Please note that a credit check will be performed as part of this process. However, this will be corrected with the relevant credit reporting bodies and will be removed from your file.

Once you have provided the relevant documents our team will be in touch to organise a video call via Microsoft Teams to confirm your identity and finalise the name change. This will involve a screen capture of yourself and your licence/passport. Please ensure this call is made in a well-lit environment with a quality internet connection.
